In Cloghans National School the child is at the centre of every action within the school and decision taken by the school. The positive relationship of our staff with the children, with each other and with the parents is fundamental to the implementation of good educational practice in our school.
Cloghans NS stays abreast with changes in technology. Both mainstream classrooms have new interactive boards.

The school is fortunate to be located within ample grounds which include a fine football pitch.
The school has a proud musical tradition. The children learn to play the tin whistle from first class onwards.
Arts education is very important in Cloghans NS. Each year the children participate in a Christmas performance.
Cloghans NS is located on the shores of Lough Conn with Nephin visible in the distance. It was built in 1915. The school has been extended in recent years to include bright airy rooms which include the latest technology.
There is evidence from dĂșchas.ie that suggests an older thatched school dating back to pre-Famine times preceded the present building. A hedge school in turn was in operation before that building. People in the area are very proud of the heritage of Cloghans NS and its long-standing presence in the community.
The school consists of two spacious mainstream classrooms with an additional classroom which is used by the Special Education Teacher.
The Junior room caters for classes from Junior Infants to Second Class. Due to the small numbers children receive one to one attention and have ample opportunity to engage with structured concrete materials and play materials to help them to do the work of children, play.
The Senior room caters for students from third to sixth class. The children enjoy working with technology and participating in STEM and cooking activities. They have participated in the Discovery Primary Science Programme.
School doors open at 9:05 a.m with school starting at 9:10 a.m
